A Busy weekend for Team Moto Rapido Ducati.
It was a busy weekend for Moto Rapido Ducati.
Here's what they had to say.
The team had a busy weekend with ups and downs.
Superbike
We started the weekend strong on the Superbike holding P2 most of the practice session trying to complete race distance runs on the tyre but ended P4 which we were very happy with.
The second and third practice sessions saw a number of crashes from various teams including our own which meant John was heading into qualifying feeling a little bruised, then during the Ducati Cup race there was a tragic incident a rider lost his life, Qualifying and other events were cancelled for the remainder of the day.
John headed into morning warm up with a lot of pressure and subsequently had a crash at the last turn and Sprained his ankle and broke bones in his foot…. this is probably the worst weekend we have ever had and we did not think john would be able to ride.
Race 1 we started P7 based on the practice session averages, John made a good start but 8 laps in suffered a technical fault meaning he had to retire from the race.
Race 2 was a better story! We started P13, John battled his way through the field until the pain was too much for him to cope with, he soldiered through and brought the bike home with some points and a start to our Championship contention finishing 13th.
Moto3(standard class)
Young Thomas impressed me from the start of the weekend placing himself firmly inside the top three all throughout the practice sessions.
As the grid is a mixture of Standard class and Non Standard Moto3 bikes we started the race in P19 Row 7 with such close racing we ended the race 5th, Thomas was a little disappointed but it gave us a good position for race 2 the next day.
Thomas was determined to bring home some silverware for the team on his debut weekend, he started P16 on the grid and worked his way up to 3rd position collecting a well-deserved trophy.
We now look forward to Brands Hatch and hope that both the guys can bring home some silverware.
